Blink Once If Your Headlights Go Up and Down | 1985 Fiero 2M4 Revival - Part 4

Definitely not many big milestones hit like in the previous two episodes, but there's still a lot of fun stuff done. There's wiring, welding, grinding, wire-wheeling, taking aparting, lubricationing, all the ings really. Every ing ever. In this video.

  • Heyo 👋🏻 I wanted to make it clear that it’s gonna be a super long time before the next video comes out. This was the last of the footage for a complete episode. I know I said there’s 6 more after this, but that’s because I am allocating specific tasks to specific episodes. 5 will be interior 6 will be engine and tranny work 7 will be suspension 8 will be bodywork and paint 9 will be various things that still need addressing 10 will be a finale video They will be made, you guys just gotta hold tight. See you all when I post the next video in 2023

    • @Ronald Finger Not sure if it'd be ok on the valve cover but I've seen people take a nut, place it over the broken bolt and weld the nut to the bolt from the inside. Since the engine block is aluminum, any splatter should be fairly easy to remove. That's just a suggestion, I've never actually tried it. I work on small engines and just got a 78 Ford Fairmont as a daily driver that is getting me into working on cars, next big thing for that after the tuneup is dual exhaust.

  • If you have not removed the valve cover bolt, take a spring loaded punch, or automatic punch. Find a small part of the bolt sticking up, place the tip of the punch and work the automatic part turning in the CCW direction. The spring loaded pop will free up some bolts. It takes time.

    Jamie SmithJamie Smith6 сарын өмнө
    • It is technically not an adhesive, but it can still act as one. I've had them installed for two years now with no issues. Granted, I haven't driven the car all that much so that's not a fair test. If I had to guess, I'd say Rodney's adhesive would be worth it. But the pen I got was just from a local Fry's Electronics store!

  • Valve cover bolts = 1/4 drive ratchet held at the top. When my brother was teaching to work on engines, he took my 3/8 sockets and ratchets away from me just for the valve cover bolts I kept breaking ! But I soon got the hang of it. Just takes practice. And by the way, I still use 1/4 drive sockets on valve cover bolts.

  • @Ronald Finger Another tip for you. If you break off a bolt again and need to drill it out, next time go to Harbor Freight (or order online) a set of left hand twist drill bits. You run the drill in reverse to drill it out. A lot of times in the process of drilling out the bolt you will end up removing the broken bolt threads because the friction heating of the bolt while drilling will loosen the broken threads and spin them out.

    Vance OgdenVance Ogden11 сарын өмнө
  • Easier to just replace those bad motors. The Pontiac Firebird and Fiero use the same motors except they are reversed. IE the drivers side on the Fiero is the passenger side motor in the Firebird and vice versa. The motors are flipped around and mounted on the opposite side. I found this out the hard way when I ordered one from an Ebay seller and his listing was wrong and he sent me the wrong one. He apparently didn't know that. I confirmed by checking part numbers at O'Reilley's. As a plus tho the Ebay seller didn't want to pay return shipping for his error so he called it a loss and refunded my money, which means I now have a free spare headlight motor for the side that didn't need replacing. :-) This is on the 87 anyway. But being a "use what we got for parts to save money" car, it's guaranteed the 84 motors came from another car too. Maybe from the Firebirds of that year also. The GM big whig brass kept cutting Pontiac's Fiero development budget so they couldn't afford to make parts just for it.

  • Hello Ronald, Steve here from Canada. I'm a long time Fiero owner. I love your videos and your doing a hell of a job, not only on the car but putting the videos together. Well done. I do have a couple words of advice for you and you can either take it or leave it. Its just things I have come across in my many years of tinkering with my Fiero. First off I would change out that fan relay. I know you said it is working fine but, it did take a couple of love taps to wake it up. Keeping a car at proper operating temperatures is key to a long engine life. It only take one oops to cook it. Is it really worth cooking your engine over a $15 part. Just my thoughts. Second Fram is the absolute worst oil filter ever made!!!! Checkout the "worst oil filter ever "video on MNthe. They test several filters and it show how bad it really is. Buy the NAPA Gold best bang for your buck and you can pick it up at any NAPA store. Anyway that is the end of my advice/rant Keep up the good work. Look forward to watching more of your Fiero revival videos.

It was a matter of nanoseconds when I saw you honk down on that poor valve cover bolt with the same Break-Over-Bar one would use to break a head bolt loose I knew it was toast. I didn't mean to spew my drink all over my monitor. Excellent Work Young Man! Cheers from Louisiana.

  • Helpful pointers...Lower feed and increase amperage on your welder (I'm kind of guessing from looks of your welds). This gives you hotter/better weld penetration and a smoother/flusher weld. Experiment with those setting as there is a fine spot that will be used for most of your welding. The only change from that will be when you weld thinner material. Beginners tend to go too fast as they're welding, so keep that in mind. If right handed, use left hand as support/slider hand. Also, when cutting 45 angle for making a frame. Make the angle SLIGHTLY smaller than a 45, that way it squares up easier/better. I designed the front suspension lift kit for the Jalapeno kit car that fits a Fiero. PISA kit cars..Good luck with your project car.
