Paint and Electronics (Finale) | Iron Man Helmet Build - Part 5

It's done. Finally. After two years. I finish the body work, paint the helmet, and install all the electronics to make it open up and have the eyes glow.

  • The paint didn't wrinkle because of finger oils, it wrinkled because you applied the clear too soon after you painted the red. The red may have been dry, but it was not cured. The solvents form the clear caused it to bubble.

  • I agree with Toby. I skipped that entire opening BS to get to the content, it was totally pointless (like the techno-disco music you hear on European vids). If you want to be an actor then be an actor and do a real film project.

    • Well, I pinned Toby’s comment so that everyone could see what a close minded asshole looks like, in case they forgot. Also, if it wasn’t self evident, I didn’t make this video for you. I made it for people that understand what self expression is.

  • Not sure if any one commented on this already, but when you get that hazy finish after spraying a varnish coat in high humidity, instead of sanding down and redoing everything you can simply respray the varnish after the humidity dies down and it gets rid of the haze and offers a nice, clear finish.

  • I'm super sorry to keep bothering you, I'm just super novice art electronics. Other than the pro micro board, servo, hinges, and power supply what else would one need to achieve an opening and closing face plate? Also I molded a jaguar snout to my iron manface plate which I can inbox a picture of, was wondering do you think the 20mg servo will be enough to lift the face plate? Thank you for any advice you can share and super thank you for making this video or was greatly appreciated and well needed.

      maxim maximmaxim maxim7 сарын өмнө
  • There has to be a way to make this so the eyes glow, but you can still see out of it. The eyes need to glow for a proper Ironman helmet, but a wearable helmet that you can't wear (because you can see anything) seems pointless.

Bonesaw is readyBonesaw is ready2 жилийн өмнө
    • You can see out of this helmet, though. I never said you couldn’t in the video. There’s a balance of having a high thread count mesh creating an even glow with poor visibility and a low thread count with great visibility. This helmet is in the middle of the two, but probably leaning toward the lower visibility. Experimenting with different fabrics can lead to the best choice, but I am more than happy with how this is. As I explained in the video, it lives out 99% of its life on a shelf as a display piece, so the visibility ultimately isn’t a big enough of a factor for me to tear up the insides and test things out. More than anything, however, if someone made something that makes them immensely happy and proud, it’s not pointless.

    TurboChargedDadTurboChargedDad2 жилийн өмнө
    • @Ronald Finger I understand. The only reason I even asked was because it looked like most of those sliced parts weren't as large as the single piece helmet. Either way thank you for taking the time to answer a n00b like me.

      TurboChargedDadTurboChargedDad2 жилийн өмнө
    • My build plate is not big enough to print the helmet in one piece, so it had to be divided into multiple parts. The ear pieces could have been integrated into the main part of the helmet, however. I just didn’t merge them together in the software when I could/should have.
