  • Good catch on the Idle Air Control. They were known to get fouled fairly regularly. 2 things for future reference. 1 after you clean one, give the shaft a quick spray with lubricant to help it move in and out . 2 if you have issues with high or low idle, most of those of that period are adjustable. Been too long since I have had to mess with one. But I am sure you can find it on line. Keep up the good work.

I had to restore my 1988 from the ground up like you are doing here. I love that you are working with your brother. I never had that. I can't wait to watch the rest of your videos. • Having restored lots of things over the years in my life, I have learned (the hard way of course) it's always best to just completely disassemble the entire thing and start from scratch on something in this bad of shape or just walk away. Start with the frame and rebuild or replace each part as you reinstall it. When done its like brand new. Of course its not worth what you will have in it but you don't do this kind of thing for the money.

On big piece of advice that I learned the hard way, always wear eye protection when you are under your work, using power tools, air tools or spraying anything. I look forward to more videos! • What I normally do where fuel injectors/rail assemblys are concerned is I normally remove the last object in the line, the injector(s) from there I prime the system till it comes out clean, from there I remove the rail (or assembly leading up to the injector(s)), dump it out and get a small garbage fuel additive in the line, than I pressurize the fuel system and make small jumper leads to the injector, I tap power on the injector rapidly and repeatedly untill I can start to hear it's click change (if I suspect it/they is/are clogged) than after that I hit the key and see how she does,

    • @Michael Turner Hey the Outback was a great wagon. I half grew up in my dad's cream white one. That thing towed our trailer all the way to the rockies from Ontario, and you couldn't ask for a better vehicle for Canadian winters. But you're right. I REAAAAALLY would love a Subaru STI, but the engine bay alone makes me hesitate. Working on this boxer is a right p.i.t.a. Also careful with that head gasket. Older subie engines tend to pop them if you sneeze at the gas pedal too hard. :D
